3D models for a Back-of-Device Smartphone

About

In the context of our paper "Investigating Screen Shifting Techniques to Improve One-Handed Smartphone Usage", we developed two smartphone prototypes with back-of-device interaction capabilities based on the LG Nexus 5X. The first prototype was designed as a phone case, which attaches a resistive touchscreen (Nintendo DS touchscreen) to the rear side of the phone. The second prototype was designed as a replacement back cover to minimize the thickness of the phone. For the second prototype the rear facing camera has to be removed prior to replacing the cover. We designed 3D models for both prototypes in Inventor and printed them with a 3D printer.
